What’s in a name?
Dog Face was born out of an unexpected rescue and an unbreakable bond.
In 2015, while visiting the United States from England, our founder Gavin found himself at a shelter under urgent circumstances. A friend who normally fostered dogs from kill shelters couldn’t make it in time, so Gavin stepped in. What started as a simple act of kindness—signing paperwork, paying fees, and saving a dog’s life—quickly became life-changing.
That dog was Bo. When Gavin first met him, Bo had already received the first injection in preparation for euthanasia. He was limp, unconscious, and seconds away from never getting his second chance. But thanks to perfect timing and persistence, Bo was saved.
Over the next days and weeks, Bo slowly recovered. The moment he wagged his tail for the first time, a lifelong friendship was sealed. Within a month, Gavin and Bo were inseparable. What began as a rescue became a partnership that would inspire the future.
When it came time to start his business, Gavin struggled to find the right name. Nothing felt right—until a joking comment about calling it “Dog Face” stuck. With the help of designers in Quebec and inspiration from bold Art Deco and Cold War–era poster art, the distinctive Dog Face brand was born.
Today, Dog Face stands for knowledge, respect, optimism, hard work, and expertise. What began with one rescue dog has grown into a commitment to excellence and a name that proudly carries its unique story.
We’re more than just a business—we’re a reminder that second chances matter, and that the bond between people and dogs can change lives.
Hello, I’m Gavin of Dog Face. And yes, I might have to repeat that five or six times because of my accent—but once you know us, you’ll never forget us.
